NEEDS for SUMMER 2024
1 - BRIGHTER BITES - VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Grocery bag assembly: we need volunteers to help! Brighter Bites is a national nonprofit that engages with community organizations and schools to distribute produce and educate families on the importance of nutrition. The program is USDA SNAP-Ed and CDC-approved evidence-based intervention, and also designated by the National Cancer Institute as an Evidence-based Cancer Prevention and Control Program. 
Brighter Bites will deliver large pallets of produce and grocery items to our facility every week to be distributed to families. Volunteer groups are needed every Tuesday from 1-2 pm to bag items so they are ready to go! This volunteer position does not require an application, background check, or other trainings. Volunteers only need to sign up beforehand using this link.

2 - B3X CAMP - SUPPLIES & VOLUNTEERS:
B3X is a STEAM-based camp that aims to provide our 200 students with individualized and hands-on learning experiences in science, math, reading, and art.

B3X Summer Camp Supplies: 
Our B3X Summer Camp utilizes hands-on activities to reinforce core learning in science, math, reading, and art. In order for our curriculum to be engaging and individualized for all 200 students, we require a lot of supplies. Please consider supporting B3X by purchasing supplies from our Amazon Wishlist.

B3X Summer Camp Volunteers:
Volunteers are needed to support classroom instruction, lead small group activities, chaperone field trips, or offer specialty clubs. Volunteers in B3X are integral to providing students with individualization and quality time.

Camp will be from June 10th-July 24th, Monday-Thursday, 9 AM-3 PM. We have volunteer shifts in the morning from 8:30 AM- 12 PM, afternoon shifts from 12:30 PM- 3:15 PM, and all-day shifts from 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM. You can sign up for one shift or both to spend the whole day with our students!

Volunteers please note: 

  • Minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old.
  • All volunteers must complete the application, sexual abuse awareness training, and online orientation.
  • Volunteers over 18 must also complete a criminal background check. 
  • Please allow at least 48-72 hours in advance to complete the Wesley-Rankin onboarding process.

 

 

 


UWF Partner Day at Wesley-Rankin

Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023 at 11 am - 1 pm

Wesley-Rankin Community Center invites you to lunch to celebrate their history with UMW/UWF. Women like you have have made WRCC's mission possible during 121 years of service. When was the last time you visited the center? Come and learn about how they are changing lives in West Dallas now. Tours of the Center will be offered before and after the 11:30 lunch and program. Lunch provided by WRCC. 
Pre-registration is required. Capacity is limited.
