What is the Hotel Information for the 1st Annual Meeting on Nov. 9?
We have a block of rooms at two new hotels in Abilene
- Home2 Suites by Hilton Abilene Southwest: 3650 Cedar Run Road Abilene, Texas 79606; Phone: 325-480-1800
- TownePlace Suites Abilene Southwest: 3838 John Knox Drive Abilene, Texas 79606; Phone:325-999-9429
NOTE: The cost is the same at both hotels - King $109, two Queens $119. If you see the term “C/O” on the form, it means the day to check-out
3. The hotel agreement lists these dates: November 7, 8, 9. You may choose any combination of nights from 1to 3 night. (Best to book as many nights as you anticipate that you will want. It will be easier to cancel a night than to add a night later.)
4. The hotels accept tax exempt forms. Forms need to be filled out, signed, and presented at check-in.
5. What is the big difference in Home2 and TownePlace? The single rooms are different -- they both have sofas, but Home2’s sofa is a sleeper, so, three could go into those rooms if two attendees are ok with sharing a King-Sized bed.
6. All unreserved rooms will be released on October 25, 2024!!
7. The easiest way to make your reservation and select # of nights is to register online. You select your room, add your payment, and you will be done. But you can call the hotel(s) and make your reservation that way as well.
8. When calling in to make your reservation, use the code UWF or the full name United Women in Faith to get the better rate.
9. Credit Cards are charged upon arrival. A credit card is required to check in.
10. Free breakfast included at both hotels
11. Free cancelation until 24 hours before the reservation

1- How will this unification affect my UWFaith experience?
Most of what you experience locally will stay the same. We’ll all still be organized for mission, spiritual growth and fellowship. You can maintain all your local UWFaith traditions and participate in District projects and events, and Conference projects and events. You may continue to volunteer at and support your local missions as you have been.
Most of the Districts are going to stay the same - except for a few that will be renamed because of duplicated names (e.g., there are two "East District"s). Most local UWFaith groups will stay in the same District, so you will continue to interact with those District officers for training, with your questions and for inspiration.
Our Conference will cover a larger geographical area so we will have more sisters in our Conference community. The unified Conference will still host Mission u, Racial Justice events, Soul Care events, mission projects, and newsletters.
2- What is the new Conference name? How was it chosen?
Our new conference name is the Horizon Texas Conference.
From the Unification report: The horizon is the boundary separating the sky from the land and sea. Sometimes, we view the horizon as a limiting factor- either physically or in our human understanding. It can be easy to focus on what is right in front of us, rather than looking beyond. But as believers, our faith carried us past the horizon, seeking something more than what our eyes can see. Expanding our horizon opens new opportunities for ministry and for creating disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Naming Sub-Team Committee agreed that keeping “Texas” in the name was crucial and in keeping with the other two Texas Conferences in our jurisdiction.
3- What area will the new Conference cover?
Here you can see all the current conferences in the South Central Jurisdiction. The three conferences that are unifying are in the white box.
Notice the relative size of the other conferences. We have been used to relatively small geographic conferences. This new larger-area conference will not be the largest conference. This will be an adjustment, but our sisterhood will grow!
4- What is the timeline? When does this take effect?
The new Horizon Texas Conference of United Women in Faith will begin January 1, 2025.
The first annual meeting of the Horizon Texas Conference will be held on November 9, 2024 at McMurry University in Abilene. The new conference officers will be elected and installed at this first meeting of our new conference. You'll want to be at this historical event!
5- Will we still be “United Women in Faith? — or does this mean we’re getting a new name again?
Yes, we will still be United Women in Faith!
We will now be the United Women in Faith of the Horizon Texas Conference.
6- Will we continue to do things like Mission u and Social Action events in our area?
Yes, we will still have these events! The plan is to hold Mission u, Charter for Racial Justice Events, and Spiritual Growth Events, in multiple places across our conference. All members will be welcome at any of these events.
It might be fun to go somewhere new and interact with new UWFaith friends!
7- Is this just for UWFaith groups that are still in United Methodist Churches?
The unification will affect all groups and all members within the geographical borders of the new Horizon Texas Conference. United Women in Faith welcomes all Christian women into membership, no church membership required.
8- Who will be Conference officers for this new Conference?
