New Year's Day 2024 - The girls have moved in! The furniture arrived at last and the girls were full of joy! The new bunk beds have colorful new sheets, the new building has been painted and the trees are green! The girls have created this video for us.

In 2021 NTC UWF decided to partner with the Connexional Women Fellowship of the Methodist Church in Kenya and began fulfilling a dream . . .
to end the traditional female genital mutilation (FGM) practice in villages in the Pokot section of western Kenya. Pauline Ntombura, the Kenyan Methodist Conference Bishop’s wife, dreamed of a shelter for Kenyan girls who needed a safe haven to avoid genital mutilation and being sold off in marriage. December 11, 2023 - Pauline writes us:
I'm sending eight short videos recorded by a few of the girls who have come to us and escaped FGM. Some are shy, others are very fast & some are really bold. I am so happy to share these videos so you can feel their excitement! If you listen keenly, you will get their message. It’s very deep & moving, though you may struggle with their accents, that’s the beauty of diversity. The girls have really gained confidence while living at the centre, being cared for and going to school. It’s such a joy to see how they are growing and the hope this centre gives them. It’s a wonderful Mission!

My name is Mercy Chepkuonga. I lived at Dira rescue center for 8 years. This here is my new home! Look! This is my home! Wow! What could I say? I cannot control my excitement and joy! How could I deserve to be here? Me, Mercy, how!?! It is not possible! How shall I enter in such a building ? I will need new shoes, slippers and clothes! This is for us? This can only come from God, given to us through His hand of mercy & compassion. See, this is my home! God’s love Is wonderful, I cannot get over this. It is gorgeous and marvelous in our eyes! This here is our new home at Kreel Marakwet. It is called Jerri Savuto Rescue Centre. This magnificent building is a gift, brought from Heaven, through the loving hands of the United Women in Faith. When in Pokot knew nothing about the members or our existence. We feel the love of Jesus who notices us, loves us and care about us through this sacrificial love. It is overwhelming to meet Jesus through the love that is expressed by United Women in Faith [29 seconds]

There is running water, showers, flushing toilets, sinks, gypsum ceilings, electricity! This is unbelievable! I think this must be how America looks like? It’s a whole new world for us.

My name is Monica Relin, I came (to the Dira rescue centre) in 2019. I have received love and care thanks to United Women in Faith & friends of Jerri Savuto through Mama Pauline & Methodist Women in Kenya.
I did my KCPE (Kenya certificate of Primary Education examinations) recently and I am proud to announce I passed my exam very well & qualified to go to secondary school. I trust God, who has brought me this far, will make a way for me to get school fees so I can attain the next level of my education. We expect to get invitations soon to join secondary school.
